More and more people are spending majority of their time staring at screens, whether it be working from home on laptops especially after covid-19, scrolling through endless feed on social media websites, or just spending their leisure time chatting or video calls online. With a plethora of entertainment available online whether it Netflix, Hotstar, or online games to keep us engaged on our screens. What is being observed is a general shift in sleep pattern among the younger generation, and slowly our sleeping clock has shifted towards two, three, or in some cases even four AM.
We are the first generation endowed with all the luxuries and sadly deteriorating health with-it.With love of empty calories in our hearts, and high of caffeine in our brains, slowly we are treading a path of impatient, and sleep deprived life style. Although with our busy life style, guaranteed sleep of certain hours may seem like a dream, but little tweaks can help us to live a life free of anxiety and anger.
How often have you made a resolution late night to work upon your health, because you can’t muster enough energy to get on the treadmill even after taking whole year gym membership? If you are feeling ho-hmm than get-up & go, because you want to sleep more. Lots of time, isn’t it?
Sleep deprivation is a serious issue affecting us all, and needs to be tackled for a healthy wellbeing. Sleep deprivation has been associated with severe health repercussions, often leading to impact on immune system, disturbance in circadian rhythm, problems with digestive tract, loss of appetite, over eating, frequent mood swings, feeling low on, irregular or painful menstruation, undesired weight gain, and various other life style diseases. Impaired memory functions have been seen among people suffering from grave deprivation of sound sleep.
When we were an infant sleep was one of the first activity & most essential that we have mastered. As we grow up importance of sleep and timing is often ignored. Good night sleep keep you enthusiastic and energising through out the day because Quality sleep is the foundation of physical, mental & spiritual well-being. As we grow older even though we are supposed to grow wiser, but tend to adopt bad sleeping habits.
How to gauge the quality of our sleep?
If you wake up with the buzz of alarm feeling replenished, or even if you wake up just 5minutes before alarm and not wanting more sleep., you are good to go.
How to Achieve it?
Start with small achievable plans, or just a simple morning routine which make you jump out of the bed to accomplish those. As you start to reach those little milestones, you will start to feel a sense of achievement daily lives. Reaching the goals will help you, by rewarding you by elevating your mood in the morning.
